10 Quick Things You Can Do to Reboot Your Creativity

  1. Go to TED.com, scroll down to “Not sure what to watch?” section, fill in the number of minutes you have at your disposal, and click Suprise me!
  2. If you are in the office, grab a cup of coffee and go outside alone, stretch a bit, find a good spot and spend 15 minutes focused on the clouds passing by, the birds flying, busy people running around.
  3. Wander around YouTube and watch a few sketches from Monty Python’s Flying Circus
  4. Start watching Douglas Adams: Parrots, the Universe and Everything, and then eventually let it run in the background…
  5. Give John Cleese a chance, because his talk on creativity is one of the most amazing things you will ever hear.
  6. Now here is a quick one: Four or five minutes of the best Al Pacino will definitely get you moving.
  7. Surround yourself with good stand ups: Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, Robin Williams … and the Lord himself — George Carlin. You can even find most of it on YouTube.
  8. Take a piece of paper, get yourself 5 words and draw the first image they generate in your head.
  9. Close your eyes, put your headphones on and play something from Johann Sebastian Bach. If that doesn’t get you going, give Sergei Rachmaninoff a shot.
  10. Spend half an hour browsing 9GAG. Random funny stuff will definitely release the pressure and let you reboot.
